Art Contest
Please make your students aware of an exciting opportunity in which they can have their art work featured on the tray liners of local restaurants during Education Week (April 27- May 3). The selected pieces of artwork will be scanned and formatted onto the specially designed tray liners and used for a two week period at all Lethbridge A & W, McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Dairy Queen Restaurants. (Other restaurants may also be involved). Each restaurants's tray liners will each feature four to six different pieces of student art work and will also have the district logo and the respective company logo, with a statement (subject to modification):
"(Name of Restaurant) and Lethbridge School District No. 51 celebrating Education Week in Alberta"
Students from all grades are encouraged to participate, and the intent is to select submissions from students of varied grades. If a student’s work is selected, his/her parents will be contacted to seek permission for using the artwork in this initiative.

Parameters for the submissions are as below:Must be on white paper and the dimensions of the submission must be 8" (vertical) x 10" (horizontal)
Full colour submissions are encouraged
The media used must be conducive to being scanned in order to create a print.
The submissions should relate to teaching and learning. The theme for Education Week is "Today’s achievements expand tomorrow’s horizons." It is not necessary to incorporate the theme into the submission. You may want to suggest that students draw a picture representing "what education means to them."
Please collect the submissions from your students and send them to Joanne Siljak at the Education Centre. The deadline for receiving entries is Tuesday, March 18. Submissions will be returned to the respective schools after Education Week.

Media Type (pencil crayon, etc)
