Track Meet Info

Dear Parents/Guardians
I am writing this letter to inform you that we will be going ahead with our track and field meet on Thursday, May 22nd with some modifications due to weather conditions. To ensure the safety of our competing students we will be eliminating the high jump and discus events from that day. On the other hand we will be submitting the top jumpers and throwers in those events based on their results from physical education classes for zone qualification. Only grade 7 and 8 students can qualify for zone competition. The students who were competing in just high jump and or discus will not be attending the track and field meet at the Civic track on Thursday, May 22nd. Instead, activities are planned at the school on that day that they are welcome and encouraged to attend. As a reminder, the activities at the school end at 1pm and busses will arrive at the school for pick up.
Students who are competing at the Civic track in long jump, shot put and the track events will need to be at the Civic track by 8:30 am for direction and instruction. If you can drop your child off or if they can walk to the Civic track that would be ideal. If your child needs to come to the school first then we can transport them over via our school bus. The track meet begins at 9 am will be completed by no later than 1 pm. Please make a plan with your child in regards to how they will get home. We will have our Paterson bus at the track to transport any student that needs to go back to the school first before they go home. If you are planning on picking your child up early from the Civic track please come and see Mr. Kerr in the announcer’s booth before you go.
Students who are competing at the track and field meet need to dress appropriately and an umbrella might not be a bad idea. Again, remember that there will be no concession available so you will need to bring water and food items with you for the morning.
I am optimistic that we will have a great event even though the weather is not great. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Kerr 329-0125.
Sincerely,

Mr. J. Kerr
