For our Island Project
Some of the class are interested in making play dough to use for their Island Project. Here is a recipe that will work
Play dough
Ingredients:
1 cup plain flour1/2 cup salt2 dessertspoons of cream of tartar1 cup water1 tablespoon of cooking oil (any kind of cooking oil will do)a few drops of food colouring (experiment with amounts)
Put all of the ingredients into a saucepan. Cook the mixture on low heat and stir it constantly. After about 3 or 4 minutes, when you have a nice gluggy mixture, take the saucepan off the heat and scoop the contents into a plastic bowl. It should be cool enough to play with in about 5 minutes or so.
Cream of tartar is an optional ingredient, however, it does make your playdough nice and stretchy and hold its position more easily.
Technically, this playdough is edible, however, unless you like mouthfuls of flour and salt, one small taste will help you to understand why leading restaurants around the world refuse to add playdough to their menus.
